Music for wedding

You’ve bought the dress, you’ve booked the cake and you’ve chosen to have your special day at our woodland wedding venue here at Escrick Park. It’s now all about the finishing touches: decorations, favours, and of course music. Choosing the right soundtrack for your special day can be a tricky one, so we’ve listed some of our favourite classic wedding songs – along with a few more unconventional tracks to shake things up a bit!

Traditional songs

Sometimes you can’t beat a bit of tradition for a classy wedding. The beauty of a classic wedding track that you’re likely to hear it at other points and places during the year, and it’ll always take you back to the best day of your life. Here are our top five classic wedding songs, either for the ceremony or as a first dance.

  • Amazed, Lonestar
  • At Last, Etta James
  • Just The Way You Are, Billy Joel
  • L.O.V.E, Nat King Cole
  • Stand By Me, Ben E. King

Modern covers

The lyrics of a song might fit your story as a couple down to a tee, but if you don’t like the arrangement it can put you off. A good solution is to find a cover version of the song – many artists have an acoustic or ‘stripped back’ collection hidden in their discography somewhere, or another artist may have covered your favourite song in a more suitable style. A little bit of hunting may find unusual takes on classic wedding songs, such as these…

  • Real Love, Regina Spektor (original by John Lennon)
  • I Melt With You, Nouvelle Vogue (original by Modern English)
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love, Ingrid Michaelson (original by Elvis)
  • The Power of Love, Gabrielle Aplin (original by Frankie Goes To Hollywood)
  • Your Song, Ellie Goulding (original by Elton John)

Modern romance

Songs don’t have to be classics to be romantic. Love is the most common songwriting theme across the world, so it’s no surprise that sometimes choosing the perfect first dance song or the best track to walk down the aisle to can be a little daunting. A woodland wedding is a perfect opportunity to go against the grain, as the unique setting gives you free rein to add your own quirks for a truly memorable day. Some of our favourite modern songs for weddings are:

  • Starálfur, Álafoss, Sigur Rós
  • I See Love, Passenger
  • The Nearness of You, Norah Jones
  • Be Your Man, Ivan & Alyosha
  • All Of Me, John Legend

Upbeat wedding songs

It’s not all slow dances and measured paces you know! Get your guests in the party spirit with an upbeat song, and reflect the joy of your wedding day by really going for it as you boogie on down. Happy songs are perfect for a happy day, so here’s our pick of the best:

  • Accidentally in Love, Counting Crows
