Wedding Planning
By Helen Pentith  //  Tue 14th November 2017

It is set to be one of the most special days of your life, but your wedding day can take a great deal of planning to ensure you get to enjoy it without distraction. From picking the perfect venue and dress to food and flower arrangements, creating a truly memorable occasion takes detailed planning. The last thing you’ll want to do during the days leading up to your wedding or on the morning of the big day is start spotting minor problems or begin rushing around organising last minute bits and bobs. But where do you begin to plan such an important event on what could be such a large scale?

Luckily, at Escrick Park, not only can we provide you with the perfect rural wedding venue for your impending nuptials, but we offer a full brochure with details and advice to help you plan your big day. Plus, we’ve listed just a few important things for you to consider when planning your wedding, too...

The venue

The venue must always be first on your list when planning your wedding, as it will need to be booked well in advance to avoid disappointment. If you don’t already have a particular venue in mind, think about the sort of setting you’d like your wedding to be in and what sort of ceremony you’d like; some venues may not cater for particular religious ceremonies. At Escrick Park, we can offer the ideal private facility for your wedding reception and civil or celebrant ceremony.  With a large expanse of green pasture area for your chosen marquee for a party reception and our unique woodland wedding area for your vows, all set in beautiful natural surroundings, it makes for the perfect backdrop to your photographs and a completely memorable day.

The photographer

Like the venue, the photographer should be booked as far in advance as possible too. Don’t just go by recommendation (although this is a good place to start); instead, make sure you personally preview your photographer’s previous work before hiring them. You’ll want to be able to capture every moment of your big day as best you can as these will be your permanent memories to keep. Make sure you discuss with them particular shots you’d like and that you feel comfortable being photographed by them. On our website, we list several photographers we particularly recommend.

The catering

Sometimes, the venue you select will offer its own catering services and you might be given an opportunity to sample them beforehand. If you happen to not particularly favour the food, you can always hire a catering company. When thinking about the food you would like at your wedding, it is naturally important to take your guests into account. Although it is impossible to please every guest with your wedding menu, pleasing the majority should be your aim – though remember that as it’s your special day, you’ll certainly be able to go for some of your own favourites! Our supplier list offers lots of suggested catering companies with much experience in the out door catering industry especially.

Be sure to also consider the timing of your wedding. If it is an all-day event, you and your guests are likely to need a little something before or after the main meal too.

On our website, you’ll find a range of links available that will lead you to sites offering catering, marquee suppliers and photographer services, as well as further guide and information in our brochure, which you can receive on request.
