Winter weddings at Escrick park
By Helen Pentith  //  Thu 26th October 2017
There’s a distinct chill to the air at the moment, and the collection of golden leaves on the ground suggests that autumn is here to stay. With the days getting shorter and our thick winter coats coming out of the closet for another year, it’s safe to say that the summer wedding season is long behind us. Or is it? While sun-blushed brides and tanned grooms might be thin on the ground at the moment, the end of 20-degree days doesn’t mean that wedding venues will be shutting up shop until the spring. A winter wedding can be every bit as magical, memorable and enjoyable as a summer wedding – if not more so. We host winter weddings right here in the beautiful surroundings of Escrick Park, so why not consider putting your name down for some cold weather nuptials in the stunning Yorkshire countryside?

Why a winter wedding?
There’s no denying that sun, warm temperatures and long days make summertime weddings an attractive prospect, so why should you consider having your wedding in winter? Here are a few good reasons:
Availability. In the spring and summer wedding venues, photographers, caterers etc. tend to book up fast, potentially leaving you in the lurch. Booking your wedding in the winter gives you a far greater chance of landing your first choice venue and wedding services for your big day.
Price. As they’re in such high demand, wedding venues and services often charge premium rates during the summer months. You could save a small fortune by making the same bookings in the winter instead.
Weather. The chances of picking a sunny day of blue skies and balmy temperatures may be better in July and August than over the rest of the year, but would you really want to bet the farm on it? Too many wedding days have been spoiled when summer showers have ruined what was supposed to be a dream day. In the winter you’re less likely to be disappointed by the unpredictable British climate.
Atmosphere. A winter wedding can and should be a truly magical day. Imagine lighting your chosen venue with lanterns and candles, inviting your guests to retreat to a snuggly indoor area to come in out of the cold. Instead of fussy canapés and cocktails, you could serve warming mulled wine and cider and your favourite home cooked comfort dishes. With the English countryside blanketed with snow or gilded with frost, your wedding photos will look truly spectacular and unique.

Winter weddings at Escrick Park

What better place to host your winter wedding than in the picturesque Yorkshire countryside? Here at Escrick Park we have two distinct, beautiful wedding venues available year-round:
The Park is an open grassland space with uninterrupted views over miles of former deer park. Immaculately maintained and offering excellent drainage for those wetter days, The Park offers zero restrictions on decorations and set-up, allowing you to create your own bespoke wedding for a day you’ve always dreamed of. Erect a marquee and a group of yurts or tepees, creating an enchanting atmosphere for your wedding day and providing your guests with cosy shelter from winter temperatures. Roaring fire pits provide all the warmth you need even on the bitterest days, and help to create a lovely romantic atmosphere.
The Woodland Wedding Area is a bespoke area designed specifically for wedding ceremonies amidst the beauty and splendour of nature. Set in the shade of 18th century oak trees and surrounded by rhododendron bushes, our woodland wedding area provides seating for 100 attendees in a unique, natural woodland atmosphere. Available with The Park wedding bookings, this is a truly magical space to say your ‘I dos’.

We now have a civil wedding licence for the Estate Office, which means that you can officially get married in the woodland or tents.
