Hollicarrs craft club provide a dermatoscope for a local GP surgery.....

The ladies of the Hollicarrs craft club have raised an amazing £1250 after hearing about the life-saving skin cancer screening program launched with funds from York Against Cancer.

The ladies of the Hollicarrs craft club have raised an amazing £1250 after hearing about the life-saving skin cancer screening program launched with funds from York Against Cancer. York Against Cancer have provided 57 dermatoscopes to GP’s throughout the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group area. On hearing about the equipment the group decided to fund a dermatoscope for the North Duffield GP practice.

A dermatoscope is a high powered camera which takes top quality photographs of patients suspicious skin lesions which are sent direct to the dermatology department at York hospital, the photographs are used to triage patients making sure the serious cases are seen quicker. The photographs are also stored on patients notes for further comparison if needed in the future.
