About Hollicarrs - And things to do.
Hollicarrs provides whatever pace you prefer, with plenty of activities , or you can simply stroll around the park and take in the peace and tranquility. Here are some of the things available:
Fishing
The fishing lake at Hollicarrs is within easy walking distance of the lodge park and provides a sheltered, well stocked lake. Fishing platforms have been designed around the area for easy access including disabled areas for wheelchair users.
Fishing competitions are held throughout the season.
Fishing licence and equipment necessary.
Bowling Green
A well maintained grass green for expert or beginners play.
Petanque
Weekly games are held as well as tournaments throughout the season.
Equipment is available from Reception
Tennis
The hard tennis court is flood lit enabling play throughout the year. Some equipment is available from reception.
The Haven
Available for park social events and also for hire for owner’s private functions. Table Tennis, Line Dancing and crafting also take place in The Haven.
Walking
There are nature trails in abundance at Hollicarrs. Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll, or a more energetic walk over a longer distance, walking trails have been carefully carved out among the trees around the lodge park, leading you through bluebell dells, primrose banks, past our bird hide to spot the wildlife and natural ponds teaming with life.
If you prefer to cover a couple of miles, why not walk through the woods to Skipwith Common Nature Reserve, a site of special scentific interest. This route takes you past the lovely Norman Church in Skipwith and the Drovers Arms is only a slight detour for a hearty lunch or afternoon tea.
All our nature trails and walks are ideal for walking your dog. The walking route to Skipwith Common is also suitable for cycles.
Cycling
Hollicarrs is really well placed for cycling and offers cycles for hire. The Sustrans Cycle track is situated only a 1/4 mile away from Hollicarrs, offering cycle only routes into Selby Town or the City of York, perfect for seeing the area at your pace without any traffic worries.
Nature
Wander at your leisure, exploring the park on your own and take in the lovely surroundings. Follow the nature trails, discover the fishing lake, the bee hotel and the bird hide, enjoy the wildlife - it's hard not to be surprised at the total peace and quiet that surrounds you and the plants, birds and nature that exist in close proximity to the holiday homes.
