Rideways Course & Facility Information

Indepth information about this beautifully positioned Rideways course, suitable for both beginner and experienced rider.

Most of this hacking is completely traffic free and involves only two crossings over small unclassified country roads, but please take care when crossing and be aware of traffic.

The Rideways course has all facilities you require for a days riding. On arrival you will be welcomed by ample horse box parking and a notice board displaying all the information you need. There is also a mounting block, watering facility and toilets on site.

Please note we suggest that the you become familiar with the Cross Country Course before attempting the extended hacking.

For Non-Riders

For those who maybe prefer their own two legs to four we suggest 'Temple Walk', a picturesque one-mile stroll where you may walk your dog (on a lead) while the horses tackle the rideways.

Please note, walkers are not allowed on the Rideways course due to Health & Safety reasons.

We do allow ONE cyclist to accompany a lone rider (with prior permission) for a £25 fee.

Escrick Park was one of the places we rode the most and I have many, many fond memories of us on the rides and in the woods. Your facility is a treasure and allowed us to ride in a stress-free environment away from cars and enjoy the bluebells in spring and the deer roaming the clearings.

Thank you for providing such a lovely place for people to ride.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy Rideways, I have been a member for five years and go regularly.  Thank you for running such an excellent venue.

"It’s a fabulous safe place for hacking out even with a novice horse and the variety of routes is great for improving fitness levels."

Lovely ride, beautiful ground and we had some super canters! We love it here, thanks so much! It's very well sign posted and we adore the route amongst the bluebells.  We visit as many times as we can!   Thank you to you and your team for keeping the park so well maintained, the ground was fabulous today.  KD

I had a lovely 2 hour hack around the Estate this morning, Beautiful day and that wind certainly blew the cobwebs away as well as my silk!  Great place for my lad's rehab. Already looking forward to coming back full time! :)

I really enjoy the Rideway and the freedom from the awful traffic on the roads. Its so nice and peaceful and better I think for my horse than the hard tarmac. He always seems to enjoy himself at Escrick Park and so do I!

I am now retiring and leaving the area, but just wanted to say it has been a pleasure to be able to use the park for many years.  Many thanks.

Thank you for the use of the facilities and the easy renewal of membership. We really enjoy Escrick and it has been so valuable to be able to hack off road.

Thanks Escrick Park for another beautiful ride today. Myself and my friend Dawn came over in this glorious sunshine to ride in your parkland. I am writing really to say what a wonderful job you are doing, the tracks were amazing the ground was fab and the jumps were in very good state. Thank you to all that work tirelessly to keep this in this condition for us.

"As members since Rideways originally began 21 years ago, we still ride the course on a regular basis. The riding is excellent and the course is frequently being upgraded and new areas added. It is so wonderful to have this facility with jumps for practicing and training and miles of good, quiet hacks which can be ridden for ½ an hour or up to 2 hours or more, dependant upon whichever route you wish to follow."
